Acupuncture

Acupuncture has many useful tools, such as the ability to help with chronic pain, and to improve the functioning of the body. This is especially useful in chronic, ongoing conditions. Acupuncture may provide real solutions for some conditions, instead of relying on drugs to control pain.

Acupuncture is recognised by many medical organisations worldwide including the NHS who provide this treatment in pain clinics and hospitals across the country.

Acupuncture is a useful treatment for many conditions and complaints including:

  • Pain related conditions: Joints, back pain, sciatica, nerve pains.
  • ‘Autonomic nervous system’ type symptoms: digestive problems, gynecology, headaches, sleep problems, breathing, circulation, temperature control, etc.
  • Emotional symptoms: stress, skin, depression, sadness.
  • General well-being: energy, optimism, metabolism, fertility.

Acupuncture has been shown using many studies, to be a very useful therapy. If you are interested in how acupuncture works to help the body, there is an interesting video here.

In a recent study Acupuncture was given to 379 people in an Accident and Emergency (A&E) ward of a hospital, while they were waiting for conventional treatment. Acupuncture significantly decreased pain, and also reduce stress, nausea and anxiety.

The Complementary Medical Association (CMA) also has some good articles. For more information see here.
